The word “career” can make ones heart leap for joy. Why? Perhaps it’s because a successful career is each person’s ultimate goal in modern society.
Having a career means that we are successful and receive esteem. In our society we connect esteem to money and prestige.
We also associate career with something else in our society: fear. Fear of losing our achieved goal and as a result losing esteem in the form of money and prestige.
Some people can build a career without producing real achievement because there are numerous ways to climb the career ladder. To participate actively with talent alone is only one way.
The society of esteem has a different relationship to careers.
As we’ve written in previous articles, each person gets esteem for his unique abilities. That’s why in the society of esteem people find satisfaction in doing their jobs. They pursue the profession which best matches their abilities and which therefore they love to do.
In the society of esteem a career means: everybody is in the right place according to his abilities. When each job is pursued by those persons according to their talents, work can just be successful. This is the meaning of a career in the society of esteem.
Everybody in the society of esteem receives esteem, in any case, always and without limitation the same esteem as everybody else. They don’t need to just have a career in order to receive esteem.
Having a career in the society of esteem means that everybody works in his dream job. The result is an inner motivation for ongoing improvement. Career is simply another word for successful and fulfilling work in the society of esteem.
